Small Animal veterinary surgeon/hospitalist is sought in a Central London multidisciplinary hospital

An exciting opportunity to work with the hospital team has recently become available at our Tier 3 hospital. Village Vet Hampstead is a 24 hour small animal hospital which provides gold standard care for its own patients as well as over 10 first opinion clinics and a specialist referral clinic in the North London area. We have a team of dedicated vets and nurses, including a board certified Critical Care specialist and allied support from our neighbouring referral arm, London Veterinary Specialists (across the square). The dynamic team currently consists of over 12 veterinary surgeons with varying degrees of experience from board certified specialists to certificate holders and junior doctors, over 10 RVN’s, 6 student nurses, 6 Pet Care Assistants and a well-staffed reception, admin and support staff team.

We are currently looking for an individual with clinical experience with a particular interest in internal medicine. Those with interests in Emergency and Critical Care and/or anaesthesiology would also be considered for the role, although experience with endoscopy and managing complex medical work ups would be preferred.

The successful applicant will be involved with ensuring excellent continuity of care for our medicine work ups overseeing diagnostics, interventional procedures and communication with primary care practices and owners in a regular and timely fashion.  There is an equally shared OOH rota for the weekends to ensure we provide the best standards of care – although the on call and night work will be done by our dedicated team of night staff to provide 24hour care for all of our patients.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and is highly competitive. The standard full time contract does not exceed 45 hours per week and usually consists of a 4-day week, one full weekend in three with flexibility to negotiate terms dependent on the applicant’s level of experience and enthusiasm/motivation for the role. Essential Experience Required

  • The ability to work well in a team

  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent medicine knowledge utilising a problem oriented approach with good record keeping skills
