The suitable candidate must be MRCVS registered and have 6+ years’ experience as a veterinary surgeon. They need to have worked as a head vet or in a managerial or leadership position to other staff for at least 4 years. Strong leadership qualities with a drive to improve both staff wellbeing and patient care while driving the business side forward are essential.
This is a full-time role with a 45-hour week and a one in six rolling week-end rota. You will be leading our first opinion team in our custom-built modern hospital while they provide gold standard care for the patients supported by various certificate holders and visiting specialists.
Night work is covered by our dedicated night staff so no actual night duties, however all vets are part of an Extreme Incident Rota (EIV) where you are on standby as second back up to the night team in the event of an extreme incident. Currently this works out to just over 3 weeks per year.
Support is provided by the Clinical Director and Operation Support Manager and includes all aspects of the job.
A personal and practice bonus scheme is in place.
CPD allowance is 5 days and £1000.00 per year. Further studies and pursuit of certificate qualifications is supported and encouraged.
The generous holiday allowance of 25 days plus the 8 bank holidays is topped up by having your birthday off too. Should your rota require you to work a bank holiday, you will receive a day off in lieu. This essentially means 34 days leave a year.
